Jack Grealish, a standout for Manchester City and England, has spoken up about his infamously enormous calf muscles and the reason he chooses to wear his socks so low on his legs while competing.

Jack Grealish, an England World Cup standout, has shared the secret to his enormous calves and the reason he wears his socks so low.

Why are Jack Grealish calves so big?

Over the past several years, the 27-year-old has developed a distinctive appearance, but unlike his dashing, slicked-back undercut, there isn’t much he can do about his protruding leg muscles, which he believes are 100% inherited.

“In reality, I do nothing." According to Grealish, it’s just something that runs in the family. When my grandfather played football, his calves were usually large.

How do Jack Hrealish claves get so big?

But I don’t perform any calf exercises in the gym or anywhere else. In all honesty, I’ve had it since I was a kid.

Grealish’s rippling calves required him to wear his socks low, as many had thought, but the £100 million Manchester City player maintains he only does so out of superstition.
"We were sponsored by Macron at Aston Villa, and the socks used to shrink in the washer," he recalled. “I suppose I was about 14 or 15 at the time.”

“The socks were so small that I couldn’t fit them over my calves while training." I therefore began to wear them while training, just below my calves.

“I had a great season as a player that year. I subsequently began to wear my socks below my calves when playing games. Simply put, it was something that stuck since I had such a successful season.”

Grealish has participated in both of England’s World Cup games thus far, but only as a substitute. He provided the winning goal for England in their 6–2 demolition of Iran last week but was largely ineffective against the USA on Friday.
